We may be filled with envy, left wondering how they do it. Do they pay someone? Is there magic fertilizer involved? The truth is, it’s just good old-fashioned lawn care, peppered with dedication, motivation, and education.

As with most things, the process begins with a seed. The most important aspect of the seeding process is to ensure that it gets enough water. But how much is too much?

The answer is, that newly planted grass seed can go about 2 days without water. But that does not mean it should, Grass seed, once planted, will quickly dry up and become useless.

A newly seeded lawn should be watered at least twice a day for about 3 weeks. Water is the most important ingredient in getting your seeds to sprout. In fact, you should prepare your lawn soil before planting.

  • 4 Test the soil for ph and nutrient levels.
  • 5. Do not use weed killer for 12 weeks before seeding.
  • 6. Do not walk on the seeded area.

How Soon Can I Mow My Lawn After Planting New Seed?

Do not mow your lawn until the grass seedlings have reached at least 3 to 4 inches in height. Make sure that the lawn mower is in good working order and the blades are nice and sharp. Do not mow the lawn when the grass is wet. This could damage the newly sprouting grass. Try not to mow too often while the grass is still new. Too much foot traffic can damage it.
